About Counselling

Over the course of our lives many of us experience periods when we encounter emotional difficulties and can feel stuck. Sometimes we can overcome these challenges by ourselves, but when this doesn’t seem possible counselling can help. Counselling sessions are a chance to talk about the things that may be affecting you emotionally and find a more positive way forward. Counselling can help with many different issues, such as:

  • stress or anxiety
  • sadness or depression
  • bereavement or other loss
  • difficult challenges or changes in life
  • relationship or family difficulties
  • obsessive or unwanted thoughts
  • Childhood difficulties or trauma’s

About Me

I am a registered member of the BACP with over 10 years of experience in the mental health profession. I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of people, such as: young people, older people, adults, and families. I have worked in settings such as: schools, college’s, charities, and communities with people from differing social, economical and cultural backgrounds. Because of my varied experience I can offer support with a wide range of issues, for example: Trauma, Addiction, Family dynamics, Depression, Anxiety, Adverse Childhood Experience’s and more.

Alongside working privately, I currently work with a local authority providing keyworking and counselling to children and young people to help improve mental health and engagement with education, training and employment. In addition, I have spent the last few years volunteer for a charity providing long and short-term counselling to adults: face to face, virtually or via telephone.

How I work

Going to counselling for the first time can be a somewhat daunting experience, particularly if you’ve never shared your inner thoughts and feelings before. I make it a priority to provide a warm, safe and confidential space, free from judgement to lessen your nerves.

I work by exploring what you need from me and tailor different counselling approaches to suit your needs. If you are unsure what you want, I am happy to embark on a journey of exploration with you and discover what it is you are looking for.

I have an interest in working with loss of meaning and purpose in life, becoming who you really want to be, childhood trauma and race related issues.
